It’s an interesting time to be alive.
There are few things in life more enjoyable than letting go of your inhibitions and being free. We are a society governed by rules. However, the recent rise in popularity of events such as Comic-Con and Halloween has indicated that we thrive off platforms for self-expression. South Africans in general are the most positive people. We sing and dance as a sign of protest. We laugh at our political figures and tjoh do we know how to party.
So, with Halloween coming up, rest assured we’ll make it happen.
Over the years, Halloween has evolved from a means of American kids hustling for candy to a platform for grown ups to join in the fun. We’ve seen a marked rise in popularity within the South African market and a notable increase in the utilisation of the event as a promotional tool. There’s a reason for it- Halloween is just fun.
It’s too easy to get caught up in the pressures of being an adult so let’s see this for what it is: an excuse to let out that inner kid. Our advice to you is simple: embrace it! Dress up, collect those sweets, take those selfies and go to those parties. For one night a year release those inhibitions and just be free. It’s a night free of judgment and labels. Pick a hero, pick a villain, pick a tree or an animal, but just be sure to cash in on the fun.
Since the night is around the corner, we’re sure most of you are probably scrambling for last minute costumes and decorations. Thankfully we’ve got you covered- literally. Gifts, costumes, decorations and sweets, why waste time shopping around when you can pick everything up at once?
Here’s wishing you a happy Trick or Treat season!
